Meet & Greet with the Author...Sierra

Hello, I'm Sierra Volstad, Empty Frames Initiative board member and author of this blog! I'm currently in my sophomore year at Wake Tech Community College in Raleigh. I'm a fine arts major hoping to transfer to Meredith College to study art education. My hobbies include baking, singing and playing instruments, catching up with friends over coffee, writing, hiking, and spending time with family.

In February of 2015 I traveled to Huanuco, Peru with my dad and a few other family members to visit a school that was built in honor of my great grandfather, who was a missionary in the region. Besides falling deeper in love with travel (is there a job where I can get paid to see the world?) I fell deeper in love with Jesus and wanting to reach the lost for Him. I know that I am supposed to enter the mission field at some point in my life, although I do not know where or when. I'm simply waiting on God's call; when He's ready, I'll go.

A little known fact about me is that I dabbled in theatre in middle school and high school and wish that I had been more diligent in pursuing it. I love movies of all genres so there is no way that I could pick one favorite, but I'm a huge fan of The Lord of the Rings. I definitely can not leave home without my phone, keys, and gum.

At this point in my life I am just trying to pursue the Lord with all my heart. I want to fall deeper in love with Him every day so that sacrificing my plans for my life will be a joyful surrender rather than a painful goodbye.

As an Empty Frames board member I am excited to see the impact that this ministry will have around the world. I am also excited to be involved in something that stretches farther than just Raleigh, North Carolina. I want to see lives changed for the better and the love of Jesus to be spread like wildfire.

A verse that has meant a lot to me is Lamentations 3:22-23.

"The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; His mercies never come to an end, they are new every morning. Great is Your faithfulness."
